Paintings by Jerry Gordon

The Jain Temple, Delhi - painted in 1995/96

Oil on Canvas - (95cm x 130cm) (status at 2005 = for sale)

Here is an excerpt from the book to be an artist which provides context for this painting:

"The Jain temple didn’t disappoint as a spectacle as it represents a harmonic composition to rest the eyes on, so well designed it is. Too hot and sticky to stand or sit to sketch it for very long. So after the quickest of outlines I again took photographs to record a composition to be used later in the envisaged painting of which would be made of it. Hoping the film wouldn’t melt in the warmed up plastic camera. After completing this mini- mission I left the heat and travelled north to Amritsar."
