Flushed with cash I set off on a modest excursion to Greece and Turkey before the bigger travel plan to India got going in the May. An Athens bound flight was boarded from Gatwick airport. I stood by the Parthenon that Doric temple originally dedicated to goddess Athena ~two and a half millennia ago and could see that it still retained majesty. Even though acid - rain now converts slowly its marble into gypsum lime. After sketching and photographing it I travelled to Pireas in order to board a ferryboat bound for Turkey.
