"The air temperature hot but the sea breeze kept things cool. Mosquito’s a chronic nuisance but their wicked bites compensated for by sights of grand nature going about timeless trade. None more so than in the shape the indigenous humming birds. They were always going about their high- speed pollinating business in the adjacent beautiful garden. A garden Hannah had made. Hannah loved this place. At night a sleep of a different quality compared to the slumber to be had in cities. Especially in the company of a nightly melee of exotic chirps, rattles, whispers, slithers, warbles, coo's, snaps, crackles and pops referenced by the sound of a rhythmic sea. Breaking waves could be heard barely thirty metres away. Sleeping at the edge of a big sea allows comfort at the same time as being mildly impressed at how the water knows to stop exactly where it does.

During the day everything continued in a normalised way. Mail arrived regularly at the nearby hut that was the Post Office. Jim and Penny confirmed by letter that they would soon be arriving for a two-week vacation.

Meanwhile Hannah had mentioned to her friend, Pat Ganase who worked for the Guardian, the island’s newspaper, to come and do an interview. This happened and the newspaper published a picture of one of my recently completed canvases, which was of the Golden Hindu Temple in Varanasi."
