Inspiration was taken from the colours of the Matisse-led Fauves - so a basic palette of blue, red, yellow and green. (watch this space for further details about what the primary colours are - because in 'Colour-Theory' there are differing assessments). It began in the summer of 1994 and by the autumn, it new body of work was created. Over fifty distinctive paintings were exhibited at the Greenbank Project Gallery on Smithdown Road Liverpool. The work was the subject of much local interest, including radio and newspaper media.

here below is an excerpt from the book to be an artist published in 2005 by gordonart - see price guide"Carrying easels and materials to the park presented no inconvenience. The theme as said would be one of colourful paint, brighter-the-colour-the-brighter-the-mood. Drawing inspiration from Matisse and his group the Fauves - the Daubs would try and offset a lot of grey-ness about. Such prevailing gloominess on world- scales as much as local ones. An artist’s job to pitch- in and provide a splash of colour to these keener realities."
