"I soon drove down the familiar motorways, happy with memories of sharing time with extraordinary people, both Tammy and colleagues too, with a loaded- up VW Beetle toward Plymouth. A ferryboat boarded for passage to Santander. Once there I started an enjoyable drive toward Barcelona. Arriving along the Mediterranean coast I glided up to the village of Calonge. After a brief stay here I located the eventual studio in the fishing village of Palamos – Apartado 169, San Antoni. Here I’d stay for seven months and paint. I would act as host to three visitors.
